Overall, I absolutely loved Night Songs. One of the first things that stood out to me was how much Belle reminded me of Dolly Parton. Although the story isn't based on Dolly's life, I couldn't help picturing her as I read about Belle's career, personality, and place in country music. That connection made the historical timeline especially enjoyable for me. However, what really kept me invested was the mystery surrounding the family curse and Rhea's determination to break it. The idea that every woman in her family was destined to die at thirty-three created an underlying tension throughout the novel, but I appreciated that the story was about much more than whether Rhea would survive. It was also about understanding the experiences of the women who came before her and recognizing how their lives continued to influence her own.
