If you’re an Arizona State alum living in Southern California, did you know you don’t have to make a trip to Tempe to shop Sun Devil gear in person? There’s actually a Sun Devil Campus Store right here in Los Angeles. I stopped by the store at ASU Grand the day before we left for Europe because, naturally, I needed a few new Sun Devil pieces for our trip to London and the Union Jack Classic at Wembley Stadium. Judging by the response when I shared the store on Instagram, I’m definitely not the only LA Sun Devil who didn’t realize it was here.
Where Is the ASU Campus Store in Los Angeles?
The Sun Devil Campus Store is located inside ASU Grand in downtown Los Angeles at 919 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90015. For Southern California alumni, students, families and fans, having a store here means we can actually shop ASU merchandise in person without waiting for our next trip to Arizona. I love shopping online as much as anyone, but sometimes you want to see something in person, feel the fabric and actually try it on before deciding whether it’s coming home with you.
California Sun Devil Gear
One of my favorite discoveries during my visit was the California Sun Devil gear. When I visited, the store had three different California ASU T-shirts, and of course one of them immediately came home with me. As someone who loves ASU but has made Los Angeles home, I loved finding something that represented both. I have plenty of traditional maroon and gold in my closet, so finding ASU apparel with a California connection felt a little more personal and gave me something different to wear.
Shopping for London
The timing of my visit couldn’t have been better because we were leaving for Europe the next day. After spending a few days in Paris, we were heading to London, where our trip would end with ASU playing at Wembley Stadium. I obviously needed Sun Devil options, but I didn’t want everything I packed to feel like traditional game-day clothing. I wanted pieces I could incorporate into what I was already planning to wear while exploring London and then continue wearing once we were home. I stocked up in Los Angeles, packed everything into my suitcase and took my new Sun Devil style across the pond.
From Los Angeles to London
Over the next several days, my ASU gear came with me all over London. I wore it while sightseeing around the city, visiting some of London’s most recognizable places and, eventually, cheering on the Sun Devils at Wembley. One of my favorite photos from the entire trip ended up being me wearing my California Sun Devils shirt next to a classic red London telephone box. There was something pretty perfect about having California, Arizona State and London represented in one photo, especially after starting the whole thing with a shopping trip back home in Los Angeles.
I also loved that these were pieces I could wear beyond the football game itself. At this point in my life, that’s what I want from most of the things I add to my closet. I still love a great game-day outfit, but I’m much more interested in finding pieces that fit into my everyday wardrobe instead of buying something I’ll only pull out a few Saturdays each fall. Being able to wear my Sun Devil gear throughout London made it feel like part of the trip rather than simply something I packed for game day.
Why I Wanted to Share the LA Campus Store
When I created my reel about the Sun Devil Campus Store, the point wasn’t simply to show what I bought or what I wore in London. I genuinely don’t think enough Southern California Sun Devils know the store is here. Almost immediately after I posted, people started commenting that they had no idea ASU had a Campus Store in Los Angeles. One person even told me they planned to stop by the next time they were in LA, which was exactly why I wanted to share it in the first place.
There is such a large ASU community throughout Southern California, and I love that we have a place here where alumni, students, parents and fans can walk in and shop for something maroon and gold without making the drive to Tempe. So the next time you need something for game day, an alumni event or simply want a little more Sun Devil style in your everyday wardrobe, remember that you might not have to go nearly as far as you think.
