There’s a moment I’ve started noticing more lately, and it usually happens right before I walk out the door, when I pause for a second and look down at my shoes, asking myself if they actually make sense for the day ahead.

Not just if they match, but if they work—if they’re comfortable enough to wear for hours, polished enough to feel put together, and easy enough that I won’t think about them again once I leave the house.

And living in the LA area, where days rarely stay as simple as you planned, that matters more than I used to realize.

What I Was Missing

As I’ve been refining my wardrobe, I’ve been paying more attention to the pieces that actually support my real life, not just the ones that look good in theory.

And one gap kept coming up: I didn’t have a true everyday shoe that felt effortless but still aligned with how I want to show up—something comfortable, easy, and practical, but still polished enough to work with the kind of outfits I naturally reach for this time of year.

Especially in spring and summer, when everything gets a little lighter, a little more relaxed, and a little more coastal, the right shoe matters more than you think.

TOMS Jesse Espadrille Sneakers — The Pair I Didn’t Expect to Reach For This Often

I was recently gifted the TOMS Jesse Espadrille Sneakers in white canvas, and they’ve quickly become one of those pairs I reach for without thinking.

And I think part of that is because TOMS has always sat in that space of easy, everyday shoes—the kind you don’t have to think too hard about—but this pair feels like a more refined version of that.

They still have that same comfort and simplicity the brand is known for, but the espadrille detail gives them a more seasonal, coastal feel that feels aligned with how I actually want to get dressed right now.

I have them linked in my ShopMy, along with a few other pieces I’ve been wearing on repeat lately.

What Makes Them Work

What surprised me most is how naturally they sit between categories.

They’re not a traditional sneaker, and they’re not a flat, which is exactly why they work. The rope-wrapped sole gives them that subtle coastal feel that fits so naturally into life in LA this time of year, while the white canvas keeps them clean and easy.

They pair effortlessly with denim, neutrals, and lighter spring pieces, and they add just enough texture to make an outfit feel intentional without trying too hard.

And most importantly, they’re actually comfortable enough for real, full days—not just quick errands—which is where so many shoes fall short.

How I’m Wearing Them Right Now

Lately, it’s been simple: light-wash denim, a neutral top, minimal accessories, and these sneakers.

That’s it.

They have that relaxed, coastal ease I always want this time of year, but still feel polished enough that the outfit doesn’t fall flat. It’s the kind of shoe that works for spring and summer because it doesn’t fight the season—it fits it.

I also linked a few similar everyday pieces I’d style with them in my ShopMy.

What This Is Really About

More than anything, this is about choosing pieces that make your life easier.

When something works, you stop thinking about it. You’re not second-guessing, you’re not changing shoes halfway through the day, and you’re not building an outfit around something that never felt quite right to begin with.

You just get dressed and go.

And lately, that’s the goal.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a spring and summer shoe that actually works in your everyday life that feels comfortable, coastal, and easy to wear, this pair makes a lot of sense.

For me, they’ve become one of those pieces that quietly earns its place because they work with real life, not just an ideal version of it.

You can find them in my ShopMy.
